ISOKING™  Breathable membrane for wall insulation helps protect building envelopes from wind and moisture while allowing water vapor to escape. Suitable for residential and commercial wall systems.

Product Description

Our breathable membrane for wall insulation is designed to provide an additional layer of protection for external wall assemblies. It helps reduce the penetration of wind-driven rain and moisture while allowing water vapor to escape from the wall structure.

Used together with thermal insulation, wall cladding and other building envelope components, the membrane helps protect insulation and improve the long-term performance of the wall system. It is suitable for residential, commercial, modular and lightweight construction applications.

1. Moisture Management

Helps protect the wall assembly and insulation from external moisture while allowing water vapor to move toward the exterior.

2. Wind Protection

Creates a continuous protective layer that helps reduce air movement through the insulation layer and wall structure.

3. Protects Thermal Insulation

Installed on the external side of insulation, the membrane helps keep the insulation layer protected from wind-driven rain and moisture.

4. Breathable Wall System

The vapor-permeable structure allows moisture vapor within the wall assembly to escape, helping reduce the risk of moisture accumulation.

5. Easy to Install

Supplied in rolls for efficient installation over wall sheathing or suitable structural substrates, helping reduce installation time on construction sites.

Where Is It Used?

External Wall Insulation

Used as a protective layer outside thermal insulation in building envelope systems.

Timber Frame Walls

Suitable for lightweight timber wall structures where moisture management and wind protection are required.

Modular Buildings

Can be integrated into prefabricated and modular wall systems to provide additional protection for insulation.

Ventilated Facades

Installed behind suitable external cladding systems as part of a wall moisture-management strategy.

Residential & Commercial Buildings

Suitable for houses, apartments, commercial buildings and other construction projects requiring a breathable external wall layer.

How Does a Breathable Wall Wrap Work?

wall wrap insulation

A breathable membrane works as part of the building envelope rather than as a replacement for the primary waterproofing or exterior cladding.

A typical wall assembly may be:

Exterior Cladding → Breathable Membrane → Thermal Insulation → Structural Wall → Interior Vapor/Air Control Layer

The external membrane helps resist the entry of rain and wind while allowing water vapor within the wall assembly to move outward when the system is properly designed.

This distinction is important: breathable does not mean that the membrane allows liquid water to pass through. Water-vapor permeability and resistance to liquid-water penetration are separate properties.

FAQ — Breathable Membrane for Wall Insulation

1. What is a breathable membrane used for?

A breathable membrane is installed within an external wall assembly to help protect insulation and structural components from wind and external moisture while allowing water vapor to escape from the wall system.

2. Is a breathable membrane waterproof?

A breathable membrane is designed to resist the penetration of liquid water while allowing water vapor to pass through. However, it should not be treated as a replacement for the building's primary waterproofing system or exterior cladding.

3. Does a breathable membrane prevent condensation?

It can help manage moisture within a properly designed wall assembly, but it does not independently guarantee that condensation will not occur. Condensation depends on the complete wall structure, climate, indoor humidity, insulation and vapor-control strategy.

4. Where should the membrane be installed in a wall?

For many external wall systems, the breathable membrane is installed on the cold/exterior side of the thermal insulation, beneath the external cladding or weather-facing layer. The exact position should follow the wall system design and local building requirements.

5. Can I install the membrane directly over insulation?

Some breathable membranes are designed for installation over insulation boards or other insulation materials, while others require a suitable sheathing or substrate. Always check the product's technical specification before installation.

6. Can this membrane be used with glass wool insulation?

Yes. A breathable wall membrane can be used as part of a wall insulation system containing glass wool, provided the membrane and wall assembly are compatible. The membrane helps protect the insulation from external wind and moisture.

7. Can breathable membrane be used on timber frame walls?

Yes. Breather membranes are commonly used in timber-frame wall assemblies to provide external weather protection while allowing moisture vapor to escape from the structure.

8. How is breathable membrane installed?

The membrane is generally installed continuously over the external wall structure, with sufficient overlap between adjacent rolls. Penetrations, joints, corners and openings around windows and doors should be properly detailed and sealed according to the installation instructions.

9. Can the membrane be exposed to rain during construction?

This depends on the product's tested temporary exposure period. If the building will remain uncovered during construction, select a membrane with a suitable UV and weather-exposure rating.

10. Can you customize the breathable membrane?

Yes. Depending on production capability, we can provide customized roll width, length, weight, material structure, printing, packaging and private-label options for distributors and construction projects.
